Job Introduction

 Waking Night Support Worker 

We are looking for a Waking Night Support Worker to join our wonderful team at Merrington Grange, which is a Residential service supporting young adults with profound Learning Disabilities and or Autism: Some of the People we Support may have associated complex behavioural needs, difficulties in communication, epilepsy and anxiety.  

Merrington Grange has sizeable gardens and extensive views over the Shropshire countryside situated in this rural setting close to the village of Bomere Heath just over 5ml from the town of Shrewsbury, 8ml from Bicton Health & around 4ml from Battlefield, this service is within easy reach of A49, A53 & A5. Due to the location of the service car drivers with access to your own vehicle is essential.

In addition to joining a friendly, established staff team, you will receive comprehensive induction and training that will provide you with the required skills and confidence in your new role, including MAPA and Makaton training.

We welcome people that are thinking about a change of career or want to develop themselves within the sector.

You will provide care and support personalised to the people we support in line with their Care Plan. You will work within the team to provide individual high-quality person-centred care to individuals we support, supporting each to reach their optimum potential (hopes and dreams). You will work night shifts and handover to the team coming in on shift in the morning.

Vacancy Details

Principal Tasks - Waking Night Support Worker

  • Engages with and follows their Care Plans
  • Updates their Care Plans and risk assessments
  • Offers and presents options to support and empower choice and independence
  • Responsible for the capture of outcome information and data, on company documentation and processes
  • Responsible for your own, People we support and site visitor health and safety (H&S)
  • Works within company policies and procedures and relevant regulation at all times
  • Ensure the safety of the people we support at night.
  • Support with medical emergencies at night
  • Carry out nightly Health & Safety checks
  • Work throughout the night and provide the morning staff with a handover

Ideal Candidate

We believe that a successful Support Worker doesn’t always have experience, but shares our vision to ensure that ‘every moment has potential’ for the People we Support to learn new skills and to achieve their goals.

Basic numeracy and literacy skills as well as good English are a must.

An NVQ/Diploma L2 or 3 in Health and Social Care and some experience in care work would be an added bonus, but we have a fantastic in-house training team who can help you along if you are taking your first steps in your career as a support worker.

Above all you need to be kind, caring and ready to work as a team to ensure that our services are comfortable, happy, fulfilling and safe places to live.
